Currency Volatility Policy

Last updated: April 23, 2026

1. Summary

When a subscriber pays in crypto and a provider is paid out later in crypto, the market rate can move substantially in the days between. SignalFloor anchors every subsequent USD calculation to the rate at the moment of receipt — the instant your payment confirmed on-chain — not the rate at the moment of payout. This protects both sides from the specific volatility that accrued during SignalFloor’s custody of the funds.

2. How the receipt rate is captured

Every confirmed crypto payment row stores aexchange_rate_at_receiptvalue — USD per 1 unit of the crypto you paid in — sampled from the market data snapshot at the moment the payment status flipped from pending to confirmed. That value is immutable after write: subsequent market moves do not rewrite it.

The same snapshot is used to compute the USD equivalent credited to the provider’s earnings ledger. Your effective purchase price and the provider’s effective revenue are therefore identical — there is no rate arbitrage inside SignalFloor.

3. How payouts apply the receipt rate

When a provider requests a crypto payout, SignalFloor converts the USD balance back to the provider’s chosen payout currency at the rate at payout time, not at receipt. Between the two moments:

  • If crypto has appreciated against USD, the provider receives fewer crypto units than the subscriber paid — the appreciation benefits the subscriber’s implicit holding.
  • If crypto has depreciated, the provider receives more crypto units than the subscriber paid — the depreciation cost sits with the subscriber.
  • SignalFloor retains no rate differential either way. Our fee is the advertised platform fee on the USD-anchored amount, not a rate spread.

4. Why receipt-time, not payout-time

The alternative — paying providers at the rate on payout day — leaves SignalFloor silently absorbing every rate move during custody. For a platform intended to scale past hundreds of simultaneous subscriptions, that exposure compounds unpredictably. Receipt-time anchoring makes the accounting deterministic for every single payment, auditable line-by-line, and symmetrical between the two sides.

5. Historical payments

This policy applies to payments made on or after April 23, 2026. Payments made before that date have no recorded receipt rate and are settled using the rate at the time the corresponding payout was requested. Providers with outstanding pre-policy balances can contact support for a reconciliation summary.

6. Rate source

Rates are drawn from a major-market reference feed (Coinbase / Binance composite) at the moment of confirmation. When a single source is temporarily unavailable, SignalFloor uses the median of the remaining sources. Rate-source incidents lasting longer than 10 minutes are logged publicly in the platform status page.
